Before Laura Jean’s mother passed away, she gave her an empty hatbox to put all her secrets in. Laura Jean chose to put letters to the 5 boys she has loved. She never meant for these to be sent, but then all of the sudden the boys she wrote to are showing her the letters. Laura Jean has too much to deal with, with her sister Margot moving away, helping at home, and now sorting out her love life! The question is, what will the boys she wrote to think about the letters? Maybe there will be some relationships starting for the wrong reasons.

The Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman comprise a set of comics detailing the high school experiences of a group of friends. The story focuses on Charlie (a shy over thinker in Year 10) and his relationship with Nick (the popular rugby lad in Year 11). They end up sitting next to each other in a class and a relationship begins to bloom. As they hang out more and more, Charlie starts to have feelings for Nick, though he’s not sure if Nick feels the same way. Luckily, even unlikely wishes often come true in this case!

Giving a very grumpy/sunshine type of trope, the story follows Hazel Bradford and Josh Im, who have known each other since they were in college. Hazel’s outgoing, fun, loud, and an elementary school teacher if that sums it up. Josh is a do it by the book, go through life sort of unnoticed, minding his own business type of guy. Their paths cross years after college and it simply follows their relationship/friendship. I’m a sucker for quick, romance, cute reads and this was exactly that, which I was happy with.

Hugo Wilkinson just got dumped right before the trip he was supposed to take with his now ex-girlfriend. He would go alone (in fact, he would prefer to go alone, being a sextuplet has its downfalls, after all) if only his train tickets weren’t in his ex's name. Obviously, the only solution is to find another Margaret Campbell to accompany him across the United States.

At 40 years old, Linus Baker is a quiet, simple man who lives a solitary, uneventful life. Every morning he goes to the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, where he works as a Case Worker writing report after report, either encouraging or discouraging the continuation of orphanages that serve as homes to children with magical abilities. In the evening, he returns to his tiny house, which is situated in the midst of hundreds of the same identically tiny houses. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat.
